Close to the camping site, you will find the well known hiking trail Dronningruta (the queen’s route). It is a gorgeous trail which will take you close to the sea and high up on the mountains. The view is spectacular, and because of the midnight sun, you can follow this trail day and night as long as the weather permits you to. It is recommended that you have some experience when it comes to hiking in the mountains, and it will take 5-6 hours to do the round trip. You can also follow parts of the trail to get to Nyksund, an old fishing village about two hours from Stø.

Stø Safari offers guided fishing trips, bird and seal safaris, sea rafting and transportation between Nyksund and Stø. A great alternative if you do not wish to complete the entire Dronningruta. Please refer to their homepage for more information.

In walking distance to the camping is the Langenes church, one of Northern Norway’s oldest wooden buildings. It’s age is not certain, but it has been documented to be there as early as the start of the 1500’s.
